This work was completed through a long-term mentorship with MAGIC, working closely with Kourtney Sprague, MS (Research Mentor, MAGIC). The project combined independent scientific research with applied learning, allowing me to engage deeply with existing literature while refining my analytical and scientific writing skills.

In addition to my research work, I had the opportunity to observe patient care at Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto in Brazil, where I saw the clinical impact of Fogo Selvagem firsthand. Connecting scientific research with real-world patient experience reinforced the human significance behind the disease and the importance of approaching medicine with both science and empathy.
